Despite being relatively
short, Slovenian part of Adriatic coast has something to offer. For example, the
medieval town of Piran (cca. 170km away from Nazarje) is perhaps the nicest, or
at least one of the nicest towns in Slovenia. It's picturesque architecture and
cosy atmosphere are something that make Piran definitely worth a visit. Whoever
has ever been in Piran will be not surprised by the fact that its tricky, narrow
streets hosted the Slovenian national champs in Sprint orienteering in 2006. Right
next to Piran is Portoroz, a place well known for night life.
On the other side of the border, in Croatia, the coast is much more extensive.
Although there are usually crowds of tourists on Croatian coast, with little effort
it is always possible to find a place just for yourself, especially on islands.
Southern coast (Dalmacija) and islands are perhaps the most rewarding destinations.
On the other hand, Istra (northern peninsula in Adriatic sea), is much closer
to the venue of OrienteeringOnline.cup, and it certainly does have its own very
special charm. So, a lot of sun, warm and clean sea, and great mediterranean cuisine
are waiting for you at Adriatic coast!!
